A lot of food groups on Flickr are pure fluff – just pretty photos of food with no utility beyond the visual. Once in a great while I enjoy looking at food, but more often than not, I’m going to want to reproduce it!

I stumbled upon a a few groups whose premise is that each photo must be accompanied by a recipe or a link to a recipe. It combines my love of looking at delicious food with real life reviews and reproduction ability! Recipes to Share, Cooking (recipe required), The (un)official Flickr cookbook, and Food with Blogged Recipes are all recipe based Flickr groups.

One delight that I found through The (un)official Flickr cookbook is this excellent idea of a Lemon-Ginger cookie:

You can find the recipe at the user’s blog, Coconut & Lime.

View my “food” tagged Flickr items to see more yums that yours truly has made or just plain eaten.

I’m building up my kitchen supplies – I have none of my own since I don’t have my own kitchen yet. I’m always looking for steals and right now Amazon has a promotion – vote for the KitchenAid mixer and you may get a chance to buy it next week.

We’re talking the pro $500 mixer for $69. This is insanity! <del datetime="2008-12-04T05:21:55+00:00">Vote for a chance on the customer vote page, the last item on round six. This</del> is a steal of a deal! Lasts until December 4, 2008.

Update: Didn’t get selected to buy it. Oh well. Buy the regular priced professional 6 quart mixer at Amazon.
Well, normally this would be cool, but the chicken has tomato sauce between the chicken and the mozzarella. The tomato sauce completely overwhelms the carbonara. So, boys and girls, when making your carbonara dish, ensure that you are not smothering the flavor with something else in a side dish.
